SUMMARY:Science Cafe: "Factors that Impact the Physiological and Psychological Functioning of College Students"
DESCRIPTION:\n\nScience Cafe presents: "Factors that Impact the
Physiological and Psychological Functioning of College Students" presented
by Dr. Lourdes Dale and Audrey Dana from UF Health Department of
Psychiatry. College students are faced with a myriad of information coming
from multiple sources which can be difficult to navigate and require
effective responses from their autonomic nervous system to help them
function well academically\, socially\, and psychologically. This
discussion will highlight the impact that multiple risk factors such as
maltreatment history\, stress\, violent videogame play\, and executive
functioning difficulties\, and protective factors\, such as family
 environment\, psychological wellbeing\, exercise\, and yoga\, may have on a
college student’s ability to effectively manage their day to day
interactions.\n\nThe goal of the Science Café is to encourage dialogue
between scientists and the public\, strengthening science literacy and
illustrating the impact of science on the world around us.\n\nOrganized by
the Psychology Department in partnership with the Thomas G. Carpenter
 Library.
